Fiona Apple<\/a> has unveiled the release date of her fifth studio album. Fetch the Bolt Cutters<\/em> will arrive digitally on April 17th.<\/p>\n

The news was unveiled via a video, which features a dog running on a beach to a percussive soundscape. Titled after a line said by Gillian Anderson in the British police procedural The Fall,<\/em> Fetch the Bolt Cutters <\/em>is the follow-up to 2012\u2019s The Idler Wheel\u2026<\/em><\/p>\n

In a recent profile<\/a> with the New Yorker<\/em>, Apple revealed the names of several of the album\u2019s songs, including \u201cOn I Go,\u201d \u201cThe Drumset Is Gone,\u201d \u201cRack of His,\u201d \u201cKick Me Under the Table,\u201d \u201cLadies,\u201d \u201cFor Her,\u201d \u201cShameka,\u201d \u201cHeavy Balloon\u201d and \u201cI Want You to Love Me.\u201d<\/p>\n

As detailed in the profile, the album features contributions from indie rock drummer Amy Wood, sound engineer (and Wood\u2019s father) John Would, bassist Sebastian Steinberg of the band Soul Coughing and Latin singer-songwriter Dav\u00edd Garza. Actress-model Cara Delevingne also makes a cameo appearance on the album\u2019s title track.<\/p>\n

While Fetch the Bolt Cutters<\/em> is her first studio album in nearly eight years, over the past year she has dropped a number of singles, including the Simon & Garfunkel holiday song \u201c7 O\u2019Clock News\/Silent Night\u201d<\/a> (with Phoebe Bridgers and Matt Berninger) and a cover of the Waterboys\u2019 \u201cThe Whole of the Moon.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n
