James Taylor<\/a> will join The Voice<\/a><\/em> as the show\u2019s Mega Mentor. The singer-songwriter will appear on the 18th season of the competition series, starting April 13th.<\/p>\n

Taylor will join judges Blake Shelton, Nick Jonas, John Legend and Kelly Clarkson, who whisper Taylor\u2019s name to each other in the teaser above. \u201cThat\u2019s going to be amazing,\u201d Legend says to Jonas, as he passes the message along to Blake Shelton, who mistakingly hears \u201cElizabeth Taylor.\u201d<\/p>\n

In February, Taylor dropped an album of standards<\/a>. \u201cIn terms of how they were performed and recorded before, we paid attention to the chords and melody,\u201d he said of American Standards<\/em>. \u201cBut we were interested in doing something new, and in bringing something new to it, we\u2019ve reinterpreted the songs, that\u2019s what makes it worth doing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Taylor recently postponed his joint summer tour with Jackson Browne due to the coronavirus pandemic. He also donated $1 million to the Massachusetts General Hospital for relief efforts.<\/p>\n
