The Grateful Dead<\/a> will stream a weekly concert series on their YouTube channe<\/a>l. Appropriately named Shakedown Stream, the series will premiere on Friday, April 10th, at 8 p.m. EST.<\/p>\n

The band will kick off with Truckin\u2019 Up to Buffalo<\/em>, a full screening of their Fourth of July show from July 4th, 1989 at New York\u2019s Rich Stadium. The 21-song set includes covers of Bob Dylan\u2019s \u201cWhen I Paint My Masterpiece\u201d and \u201cAll Along the Watchtower,\u201d as well as classics like \u201cBertha\u201d and \u201cMorning Dew.\u201d<\/p>\n

They also performed \u201cI Will Take You Home\u201d toward the end of the set, a track from their final record Built to Last<\/em>, which was released a few months after the show.<\/p>\n

Prior to the screening, Dead archivist David Lemieux \u2014 who is exceptional at Twitter<\/a> \u2014 and historian Gary Lambert will broadcast a live show. Viewers can click on a \u201cdonate\u201d button, which contributes to the MusiCares\u2019 COVID-19 Relief Fund.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve decided to start the streaming video series with the Buffalo \u201989 show for a couple of primary reasons,\u201d Lemieux said in a statement. \u201cIts excellence is indisputable and is something that we think pretty much everyone will enjoy in the absence of actually being able to see live concerts; and, as a tribute to the many rabid, loyal Dead Heads from the hard-hit tri-state area, which has been affected more than anywhere else in the country. To all of the Dead Heads in New York State and beyond, this one\u2019s for you.\u201d<\/p>\n

The following Friday\u2019s Shakedown Stream will feature the 1977 Grateful Dead Movie<\/em>, which was directed by Jerry Garcia and includes snippets of their 1974 shows at San Francisco\u2019s Winterland.<\/p>\n
