{"id":806185,"date":"2020-04-08T09:56:25","date_gmt":"2020-04-08T15:56:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/?p=980364"},"modified":"2020-04-08T09:56:25","modified_gmt":"2020-04-08T15:56:25","slug":"cherie-currie-releases-new-rendition-of-runaways-queens-of-noise","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/ksmt\/music-news\/cherie-currie-releases-new-rendition-of-runaways-queens-of-noise\/","title":{"rendered":"Cherie Currie Releases New Rendition of Runaways\u2019 \u2018Queens of Noise\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/cherie-currie.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p>Former Runaways frontwoman <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/cherie-currie\/\" id=\"auto-tag_cherie-currie\" data-tag=\"cherie-currie\">Cherie Currie<\/a> will digitally release her long-awaited, star-studded album, <em>Blvds of Splendor<\/em>, via former Runaways guitarist Joan Jett\u2019s Blackheart Records on April 28th.<\/p>\n<p>The album previously came out as a vinyl-only release for Record Store Day last year, but didn\u2019t get a wide release; the digital version includes three bonus tracks.<\/p>\n<p>Currie first <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/ex-runaways-singer-cherie-currie-teases-new-lp-with-slash-billy-corgan-102214\/\">began teasing the album<\/a> \u2014 which features guest appearances by Billy Corgan, Guns N\u2019 Roses\u2019 Slash, Duff McKagan, Matt Sorum, Juliette Lewis and Brody Dalle, among others \u2014 in 2016. She shelved the project at the time after falling more than 12 feet while chainsaw carving, causing head trauma and partial facial paralysis that lasted months.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve never had so much fun making a record before,\u201d Currie said in a statement about <em>Blvds of Splendor<\/em>. \u201cWe all looked at each other [when we were making it] and went, \u2018Oh, my God. There\u2019s magic happening here.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Now that she has recovered, and put out an album <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/cherie-currie-brie-darling-kinks-cover-do-it-again-861133\/\">with Fanny drummer-vocalist Brie Darling<\/a> in the interim, she\u2019s previewing the album with a new rendition of the Runaways\u2019 \u201cQueens of Noise,\u201d which also features Dale, Lewis and the Veronicas. The track, which is available now on streaming services, features thick, heavy-metal guitar and Currie and Dalle\u2019s tightly wound harmonies and handclaps guiding the track.<\/p>\n<p> <!-- .l-article-content__pull--left --> <\/p>\n<p>A behind-the-scenes clip shows producer Matt Sorum talking about the song\u2019s importance and footage of Currie and some of her famous guests gathering around a microphone in a studio. This record is about who Cherie Currie is now. We\u2019ve waited a long time to hear this icon of rock and roll do what she does best. I\u2019m very proud to be a part of this album by one of the best female singers of all time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Currie and Sorum began work on the album in 2010, around the time <em>The Runaways <\/em>biopic came out. She took a break from it and cut <em>Reverie<\/em> with Runaways producer Kim Fowley instead.
