The video depicts two children (one of whom is dressed in Tones\u2019 signature baseball cap) who feel like outcasts inside their family\u2019s lush mansion. One of the kids finds a darkness lurking inside the house, and the two of them must find a way to escape what\u2019s hiding underneath.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve always wanted to write a song in someone else\u2019s shoes, writing from their perspective,\u201d Tones <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/tones-and-i-bad-child-cant-be-happy-all-the-time-966244\/\">said<\/a>. \u201c[This song] was the first time I got to do that. It\u2019s seeing life growing up through someone else\u2019s eyes. This is the first of a bunch of songs I\u2019m releasing this year and I can\u2019t wait to share more.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/tones-and-i\/\" id=\"auto-tag_tones-and-i\" data-tag=\"tones-and-i\">Tones and I<\/a> shot to fame last year with the success of her single \u201cDance Monkey,\u201d which was a hit on streaming services and won Best Pop Release at the 2019 ARIA Music Awards. \u201cBad Child\u201d and \u201cCan\u2019t Be Happy All the Time,\u201d both released last month, mark her first releases since last year\u2019s <em>The Kids Are Coming<\/em>&nbsp;EP.<\/p>\n<div class=\"c-content t-copy\" readability=\"37\">\n<p>Tones and I recently completed her first-ever headlining tour through North America, including performances on <em>The Ellen DeGeneres Show&nbsp;<\/em>and NBC\u2019s&nbsp;<em>Today<\/em>.
