Dave Grohl<\/a>, who\u2019s known for covering everyone from Queen to Killing Joke with the Foo Fighters, picked a predictably eclectic group of artists for his pandemic playlist.<\/p>\n

The Cars, LCD Soundsystem, Smashing Pumpkins, Patsy Cline and Alice Cooper all made the cut for an emotionally charged selection of songs he put together for The Atlantic<\/a>, <\/em>complete with his typically whimsical annotations. \u201cIn order to get through this difficult period (and I truly believe that we will get through this, in time),\u201d he wrote in the list\u2019s intro, \u201cit is important to recognize the many stages of isolation and anxiety, and to pair them with appropriate musical accompaniment.\u201d<\/p>\n

Struggling with your kids trying to learn online? Why not rock out to Alice Cooper\u2019s \u201cSchool\u2019s Out.\u201d<\/a> \u201cAt least my kids have a high school dropout for a father,\u201d he wrote. \u201cThey\u2019d never risk their college careers by asking me for help.\u201d<\/p>\n

Feeling claustrophobic? Grohl suggests Smashing Pumpkins\u2019 \u201cBullet With Butterfly Wings,\u201d<\/a> and he has a particularly vivid image to go along with it. \u201cMuch like my wombat friend [from a Qantas commercial] down under, you have now carved a figure eight on your living room carpet from being boxed-in for weeks,\u201d he wrote. \u201cAt least astronauts have a killer view!\u201d<\/p>\n

Going insane? Patsy Cline has got you with \u201cCrazy.\u201d<\/a> \u201cYou\u2019re down to one bottle of coconut vodka, you\u2019ve memorized all of Cards Against Humanity<\/em>, and Anderson Cooper is showing up in your dreams,\u201d he wrote. \u201c\u2018Crazy,\u2019 by Patsy Cline, never sounded better.\u201d<\/p>\n

Need a little hope? Throw on George Harrison\u2019s Beatles standout \u201cHere Comes the Sun.\u201d<\/a> \u201cI hope that someday soon we can all step outside and share some music together,\u201d he wrote. \u201cSing along to \u2018Here Comes the Sun,\u2019 by the Beatles, and I know you\u2019ll feel a little better.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Foo Fighter also has soundtrack suggestions for preparation, nesting, getting productive, connecting virtually and getting intimate on his Atlantic <\/em>list. The magazine made a Spotify playlist<\/a> with all of his picks.<\/p>\n

Ever the busybody, Grohl has also been keeping entertained during quarantine by posting stories to his new Instagram account<\/a> (including one about shopping for fireworks<\/a>) and, of course, still performing songs live \u2014 or at least for a livestream. He performed \u201cMy Hero\u201d<\/a> for Elton John\u2019s living room concert late last month.<\/p>\n
