Saturday Night Live<\/a><\/em> cast members and alumni paid tribute to the show\u2019s longtime music producer Hal Willner<\/a> with a group performance of \u201cPerfect Day,\u201d a song by Willner\u2019s good friend Lou Reed<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Former cast members like Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph and Molly Shannon participated in the socially distanced rendition of \u201cPerfect Day,\u201d while Adam Sandler, John Mulaney, Bill Hader, Fred Armisen and more provided video remembrances of Willner, who died April 7th at the age of 64<\/a> after suffering <\/span>from symptoms consistent with the coronavirus<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve been through a lot of the last six years, especially as being part of the show, and Hal always treated me [with] open arms and warm smile, and was always just the funniest dude,\u201d Pete Davidson said.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mulaney added, \u201cI don\u2019t know why someone who was already friends with Miles Davis had a big enough heart to include me in their life, but he did.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The tribute also featured clips of Willner talking about his role at SNL<\/em> and why he loved it. \u201cWhen it\u2019s all working, there\u2019s nothing like it,\u201d Willner said. \u201cI kinda get off on the danger\u2026 This could really [fuck] up, or this is gonna be so magical.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

In the days following Willner\u2019s death, the beloved musical figure has also been remembered by artists and collaborators like Metallica<\/a>, Nick Cave<\/a> and Elvis Costello<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n
