Roger Waters<\/a> remembered John Prine<\/a> with an acoustic rendition of the late singer-songwriter\u2019s \u201cParadise.\u201d <\/span>\u201cMy friend John Prine died. This is his song, \u2018Paradise,’\u201d Waters wrote in the caption of the YouTube video. \u201cMiss you, brother.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

After a weeklong hospitalization, Prine died<\/a> Tuesday at the age of 73 from complications related to COVID-19. In the days after the legendary songwriter\u2019s death, many of the artists that Prine influenced \u2014 like Natalie Maines<\/a>, Jeff Tweedy<\/a>, Brandi Carlile<\/a>, Eric Church<\/a> and My Morning Jacket\u2019s Jim James<\/a>, who performed \u201cHello in There\u201d with Waters<\/a> at the 2015 Newport Folk Festival \u2014 have recorded new renditions of some of Prine\u2019s essential songs<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Following news of Prine\u2019s hospitalization due to the coronavirus, Waters posted a video message March 29th where he hoped for his friend\u2019s recovery.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThis good friend of ours is full of love, and always has been his whole life, and love is a powerful drug, so we\u2019re all desperately hoping he\u2019s gonna beat this COVID-fucking-19 virus and pull through,\u201d Waters said. \u201cSo fight Prine, you\u2019re a fucking fighter, and I know you\u2019ll fight this.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
