{"id":806324,"date":"2020-04-13T06:56:31","date_gmt":"2020-04-13T12:56:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/?p=982573"},"modified":"2020-04-13T06:56:31","modified_gmt":"2020-04-13T12:56:31","slug":"paul-simon-helps-detail-2020-jazz-at-lincoln-center-gala-lineup","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/ksmt\/music-news\/paul-simon-helps-detail-2020-jazz-at-lincoln-center-gala-lineup\/","title":{"rendered":"Paul Simon Helps Detail 2020 Jazz at Lincoln Center Gala Lineup"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/paul-simon-lincoln-center.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p class=\"p1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/wynton-marsalis\/\" id=\"auto-tag_wynton-marsalis\" data-tag=\"wynton-marsalis\">Wynton Marsalis<\/a> and an array of musicians from around the world will perform remote sets for Jazz at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/lincoln-center\/\" id=\"auto-tag_lincoln-center\" data-tag=\"lincoln-center\">Lincoln Center<\/a>\u2019s 2020 gala concert, Worldwide Concert for Our Culture, which will premiere April 15 at 7:30 p.m. EDT on various digital platforms.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/paul-simon\/\" id=\"auto-tag_paul-simon\" data-tag=\"paul-simon\">Paul Simon<\/a> helped announce the event in a short video, in which he said, \u201cPlease join me, Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at the Lincoln Center Orchestra on April 15th, when we\u2019ll be offering performances and commentary from artists all around the world, uniting and uplifting through music.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">With Lincoln Center \u2014 like all other public art spaces \u2014 closed during the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/covid-19\/\" id=\"auto-tag_covid-19\" data-tag=\"covid-19\">COVID-19<\/a> pandemic,<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span>the 2020 gala, per a press release, will aim to \u201clift us from the isolation of this moment to the collective memory of a greater future.\u201d The lineup will feature musicians from 12 different countries performing a song that made them fall in love with jazz.<\/p>\n<p>Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra will open the show with \u201cEmancipation Celebration,\u201d while other performers include singer Dianne Reeves, Cuba\u2019s Chucho Vald\u00e9s, South Africa\u2019s Nduduzo Makhathini, Pakistan\u2019s Baqir Abbas, Brazil\u2019s Hamilton de Holanda and the WDR Big Band from Germany. Bradley will receive the Ed Bradley Award for Leadership in Jazz.
