The never-before-seen footage is available Monday on the <a href=\"https:\/\/neilyoungarchives.com\/news\/4\/article?id=Movietone-Video-page-4\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Neil Young Archives<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The gig took place just three days after his historic homecoming show at Toronto\u2019s Massey Hall, a performance that was released as an official live album back in 2007. \u201cOver the years I always remembered Massey Hall as being the best performance of that tour,\u201d Young recently wrote. \u201cI [recently] found that I liked the Stratford show even better than Massey Hall, even though Massey Hall was the emotional high point of my life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s only an audio document of Massey Hall, but the Stratford gig was filmed by Dutch photographer Wim van der Linden. It is one of Young\u2019s earliest concerts captured on film. Young played two gigs at the theater that night, but this \u201cCowgirl in the Sand\u201d rendition comes from the early one. \u201cThis is a song I wrote about a dream I had,\u201d Young says before playing it. \u201cIt was snowing outside. It was the kind of show that sticks on your nose.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Later this year, Young plans on releasing a 50th-anniversary deluxe edition of <em>After the Gold Rus<\/em>h. During the downtime, he\u2019s created three stunning Fireside Session digital concerts that he\u2019s shared on the Neil Young Archives.
