The Jaded Hearts Club \u2013 a supergroup featuring members of Muse<\/a>, Blur<\/a>, Jet<\/a>, Last Shadow Puppets<\/a> and the Zutons \u2013 unveiled a new rendition of the Marvin Gaye rarity, \u201cThis Love Starved Heart of Mine (It\u2019s Killing Me).\u201d<\/p>\n

Gaye originally recorded the track in 1967, not long after his breakout hit \u201cI Heard It Through the Grapevine,\u201d though \u201cThis Love Starved Heart of Mine\u201d<\/a> wouldn\u2019t see release until 1994. The Jaded Hearts Club take the original\u2019s stomping soul groove and crank it up several notches with grizzly riffs, prog-y synths and wailing lead vocals from Jet\u2019s Nic Cester.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs soon as I heard \u2018This Love Starved Heart Of Mine\u2019 I knew Nic Cester from Jet is one of the few people who could actually sing it,\u201d guitarist and band founder Jamie Davis said in a statement. \u201cNic\u2019s vocal has that gut-wrenching on-pitch scream and raw charisma that provide the driving power needed. The track is like a runaway train \u2014 big, brassy, brash\u2026 a soul classic.\u201d<\/p>\n

Davis \u2014 who previously ran Blur guitarist Graham Coxon\u2019s label Transcopic Records \u2014 corralled the Jaded Hearts Club back in 2017 after he gave up looking for a Beatles cover band to play his birthday party and decided instead to form his own. The lineup boasts Davis, Coxon, Cester, the Last Shadow Puppets\u2019 Miles Kane, Muse\u2019s Matt Bellamy and the Zutons\u2019 Sean Payne. The Jaded Hearts Club have spent the past few years playing scattered shows \u2014 including one with special guest Paul McCartney \u2014 and recently decided to cut an album of Northern Soul classics.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe listened to hours and hours of songs from the Northern Soul\/Motown period to choose the right 10 for an album,\u201d Bellamy said. \u201cThis perfectly sums up what we are trying to do as The Jaded Hearts Club \u2014 to shed light on some of the greatest lost songs ever written.\u201d<\/p>\n

A release date and title for the album have yet to be announced. \u201cThis Love Starved Heart of Mine\u201d marks the band\u2019s second studio offering, following their take<\/a> on the Isley Brothers\u2019 \u201cNobody But Me.\u201d<\/p>\n
