Car Seat Headrest<\/a> have shared the animated video<\/a> for their new song \u201cHollywood,\u201d the latest track off their upcoming LP Making a Door Less Open<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThis song is about Hollywood as a place where people go to make their fantasies come to life, and they end up exploiting other people and doing terrible things to maintain their fantasy,\u201d frontman Will Toledo said in a statement.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s this terror you\u2019re going to lose the fantasy, and you\u2019re going to have to face the facts, and some people will do anything to avoid facing that. It\u2019s about that fear and the pain of being subjugated to someone else\u2019s fantasy against your will, and it\u2019s all tied together under this banner of this physical location of Hollywood that we all know about and dream about, but none of us really want to think about what is going on behind the scenes there.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Making a Door Less Open<\/em> is a quasi-collaboration between Car Seat Headrest and 1 Trait Danger, Toledo\u2019s electronic music side project where he records under the moniker Trait; that alter ego appears in the \u201cHollywood\u201d video, wearing a gas mask. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cBob Dylan said, \u2018If someone\u2019s wearing a mask, he\u2019s gonna tell you the truth \u2026 if he\u2019s not wearing a mask, it\u2019s highly unlikely,\u2019\u201d Toledo previously said of his alter ego. \u201cHe never actually wore a mask onstage so I don\u2019t know why he said that. But I decided to start wearing a mask for a couple of reasons. One, I still get nervous being onstage with everybody looking at me. If everyone is looking at the mask instead, then it feels like we\u2019re all looking at the same thing, and that is more honest to me.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Car Seat Headrest previously shared \u201cCan\u2019t Cool Me Down<\/a>\u201d and \u201cMartin<\/a>\u201d from the new album, which is available to preorder<\/a> now ahead of its May 1st release.<\/span><\/p>\n

Car Seat Headrest\u2019s planned summer tour has been canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, while many artists have also postponed the release of their new albums, \u201cMADLO<\/em> will not be delayed, I promise,\u201d Toledo tweeted<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n
