Hayley Williams<\/a> has been steadily releasing tracks and EPs from her solo Petals for Armor<\/em> project, culminating in a full-length album on May 8th. On Thursday, the singer shared her latest song, \u201cWhy We Ever,\u201d along with a lyric video Williams filmed last fall.<\/p>\n

Williams wrote on Instagram that \u201cWhy We Ever\u201d was one of the first songs she penned for her solo project. \u201cIn Dec 2018, I bought Pro Tools, an interface, and some speakers and decided to learn something new. These moments are from my first go at it (we\u2019re talking out of time\/phase\/tune\u2026 etc!\u2026).\u201d<\/p>\n

She continues, \u201cI was at the lowest point I\u2019d been in some time. My sadness shows. Now I look back and credit this night as being the beginning of a new season of my life, where I hold myself accountable for learning to love better. I\u2019ve let myself down a lot in love. This was the start of recognizing my bad patterns and acknowledging that I\u2019m ready to grow out of them. Thank you @micahtawlks for helping finish and reimagine this one for the album.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhy We Ever\u201d is the ninth song released from Petals for Armor<\/em>. In February, Williams released the first EP<\/a> from the project, containing the tracks \u201cSimmer,\u201d \u201cCinnamon,\u201d \u201cLeave It Alone\u201d and more. Over the past month and a half, she\u2019s additionally shared \u201cOver Yet,\u201d<\/a> \u201cMy Friend,\u201d<\/a> and \u201cRoses\/Lotus\/Violet\/Iris,\u201d<\/a> a collaboration with Boygenius<\/a>.<\/p>\n
