DENVER \u2014 Colorado Gov. Jared Polis announced Friday<\/a><\/i> a new executive order that requires \u201ccritical workers\u201d to wear facial coverings.<\/p>\n

Polis said the order will require critical workers who are in close proximity with other employees and the public \u2014 including grocery store workers \u2014 to wear facial coverings while at work. The only exception to the requirement are people whose health would be affected by wearing a mask. <\/p>\n

The order also will require critical employees to wear gloves \u201cwhen in contact with customers or goods,\u201d according to powerpoint slides presented at the news conference.<\/p>\n

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention added wearing facial coverings to its list of recommendations<\/a><\/i> at the beginning of April, but until now, masks have not been required for essential workers in Colorado. <\/p>\n
