Stevie Wonder<\/a> paid tribute to fellow soul legend Bill Withers with a cover of \u201cLean on Me\u201d during Global Citizen\u2019s One World: Together at Home special<\/a>, which raised over $127 million for COVID-19 relief. Wonder also played a portion of his own \u201cLove\u2019s In Need of Love Today\u201d during his at-home performance.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cDuring hardships like this, we have to lean on each other for help,\u201d Wonder said before his performance. \u201cMy friend, the late Bill Withers, has the perfect song about that<\/a>. And I want us to remember him tonight.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Wonder inducted<\/a> Withers into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2015, where the two singers \u2014 along with John Legend \u2014 delivered \u201cAin\u2019t No Sunshine<\/a>\u201d and \u201cLean on Me<\/a>.\u201d Although Withers died March 30th at the age of 81<\/a>, the Rock Hall induction in 2015 marked his final live performance.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cMay the greatness of Bill Withers live forever,\u201d Wonder told Billboard<\/em><\/a> following Withers\u2019 death. \u201cPeople will be listening to his songs and reading his lyrics like they do with great writers from ages ago, saying he was amazing. And yes, he was. We\u2019ve got to show a lot of love to his wife and children and keep the legacy of what he left behind going ever strong. I think every artist at some point should record one of his songs on their projects. That\u2019s how you keep it going. He deserves that.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The Together at Home special also featured Paul McCartney (who performed the Beatles\u2019 \u201cLady Madonna\u201d<\/a>), Kacey Musgraves<\/a>, the Rolling Stones (\u201cYou Can\u2019t Always Get You Want<\/a>\u201c), Taylor Swift (\u201cSoon You\u2019ll Get Better<\/a>\u201c), Kacey Musgraves (\u201cRainbow<\/a>\u201c), Eddie Vedder (\u201cRiver Cross<\/a>\u201c), Lizzo (\u201cA Change Is Gonna Come<\/a>\u201c) Billie Eilish (\u201cSunny<\/a>\u201c), Lady Gaga (\u201cSmile<\/a>\u201c), Alicia Keys, Stevie Wonder, Celine Dion, Usher, Chris Martin, J Balvin, Camila Cabello, Shawn Mendes, Pharrell Williams, Billie Joe Armstrong, LL Cool J and many more.<\/span><\/p>\n
