{"id":806612,"date":"2020-04-21T09:00:40","date_gmt":"2020-04-21T15:00:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/?p=987241"},"modified":"2020-04-21T09:00:40","modified_gmt":"2020-04-21T15:00:40","slug":"bright-eyes-get-existential-in-bed-on-new-song-forced-convalescence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/ksmt\/music-news\/bright-eyes-get-existential-in-bed-on-new-song-forced-convalescence\/","title":{"rendered":"Bright Eyes Get Existential in Bed on New Song \u2018Forced Convalescence\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/BrightEyes.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p class=\"p1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/bright-eyes\/\" id=\"auto-tag_bright-eyes\" data-tag=\"bright-eyes\">Bright Eyes<\/a> have shared another new song, \u201cForced Convalescence,\u201d from their upcoming new album, which is expected to arrive later this year via Dead Oceans.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The track finds <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/conor-oberst\/\" id=\"auto-tag_conor-oberst\" data-tag=\"conor-oberst\">Conor Oberst<\/a> staring down the past and future from his bed as a simple mix of stomping drums, soft piano and dreamy guitars spirals into a fanciful fever dream alongside Oberst\u2019s existential musings (the track even features the Red Hot Chili Peppers\u2019 Flea on bass). \u201cIn the dark, at a distance, I see everything at once,\u201d he sings, a full choir at his back, \u201cFeel the wind through the window and I\u2019m overcome love.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cForced Convalescence\u201d follows <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/bright-eyes-persona-non-grata-971965\/\">\u201cPersona Non Grata,\u201d<\/a> which Bright Eyes released at the end of March and marked their first new music since 2011\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-album-reviews\/the-peoples-key-124741\/\"><i>The Peoples\u2019 Key<\/i><\/a>. At the time, the band also announced their new album deal with Dead Oceans, although a title and release date for their upcoming record have yet to be announced.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Bright Eyes were set to complement their new album with a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/bright-eyes-extend-2020-tour-954064\/\">2020 tour<\/a>, although those dates remain up in the air due to the coronavirus pandemic.
