\u201cDoctor says peak of COVID-19 cases in Summit County is a few weeks away,\u201d stated the Page 1 headline in the Summit Daily News on April 9.<\/p>\n

The source was a medical officer at the Summit Community Care Clinic. This person\u2019s prediction was based on talks with \u201cfolks from (St. Anthony) Summit Medical Center\u201d and \u201cother medical providers,\u201d i.e., the \u201cexperts.\u201d<\/p>\n

For many locked-down residents, the remark was a downer, and it was the most-read story in the paper that week. And yet all signs are that the forecast was way off.<\/p>\n

In the \u201cfew weeks\u201d since the doctor\u2019s prediction, new coronavirus hospitalizations have in fact been flat. The day-by-day figures (starting on April 7) go like this: 0 \u2013 0 \u2013 0 \u2013 1 \u2013 3 \u2013 0 \u2013 1 \u2013 0 \u2013 0 \u2013 1 \u2013 1 \u2013 0 \u2013 0 \u2013 0<\/p>\n
