{"id":806675,"date":"2020-04-22T12:09:14","date_gmt":"2020-04-22T18:09:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/?p=988298"},"modified":"2020-04-22T12:09:14","modified_gmt":"2020-04-22T18:09:14","slug":"beastie-boys-set-siriusxm-virtual-town-hall-hosted-by-ll-cool-j","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/ksmt\/music-news\/beastie-boys-set-siriusxm-virtual-town-hall-hosted-by-ll-cool-j\/","title":{"rendered":"Beastie Boys Set SiriusXM Virtual Town Hall Hosted by LL Cool J"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Sirusxm.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/beastie-boys\/\" id=\"auto-tag_beastie-boys\" data-tag=\"beastie-boys\">Beastie Boys<\/a>\u2019 Mike D and Ad-Rock will stage a SiriusXM virtual town hall hosted by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/ll-cool-j\/\" id=\"auto-tag_ll-cool-j\" data-tag=\"ll-cool-j\">LL Cool J<\/a> to mark the group\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/spike-jonze-beastie-boys-story-trailer-966088\/\">Spike Jonze-directed documentary <em>Beastie Boys Story<\/em><\/a>, which premieres Friday on Apple TV+.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The virtual town hall \u2014 with Mike D, Ad-Rock and LL Cool J all chatting from self-isolation \u2014 will premiere April 27th on LL Cool J\u2019s Rock the Bells Radio channel.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In one clip, Adam \u201cAd-Rock\u201d Horovitz and Mike Diamond (\u201cMike D\u201d) ranked their top five rappers ever, a list that includes Nas, Chuck D, Kool G Rap and the influential Jimmy Spicer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">During the conversation, LL Cool J asked Mike D and Ad-Rock whether the late Adam \u201cMCA\u201d Yauch would approve of them continuing to make music together following his death.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cNot as Beastie Boys,\u201d Horovitz answered. \u201c[Yauch] started the band, so I think it\u2019d be weird\u2026 The band is the band, and without Adam, it\u2019s not the band. I don\u2019t think he would want us to continue as Beastie Boys, it\u2019d be weird.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Diamond added that he still feels he and Ad-Rock are doing things as a band with the release of their <em>Beastie Boys Book<\/em>, <em>Beastie Boys Movie<\/em> and stage shows, even if they\u2019re not making new music together.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" type=\"text\/html\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/CExafNMh6Lw?version=3&amp;enablejsapi=1&amp;origin=https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com&amp;rel=1&amp;fs=1&amp;autohide=2&amp;showsearch=0&amp;showinfo=1&amp;iv_load_policy=1&amp;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\">[embedded content]<\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cHip-hop was forever changed by the unique sound and charisma the Beastie Boys brought to the game.
