{"id":806731,"date":"2020-04-23T15:00:46","date_gmt":"2020-04-23T21:00:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/?p=989143"},"modified":"2020-04-23T15:00:46","modified_gmt":"2020-04-23T21:00:46","slug":"taylor-swift-decries-impending-release-of-unauthorized-2008-live-album","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/ksmt\/music-news\/taylor-swift-decries-impending-release-of-unauthorized-2008-live-album\/","title":{"rendered":"Taylor Swift Decries Impending Release of Unauthorized 2008 Live Album"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/taylor-swift\/\" id=\"auto-tag_taylor-swift\" data-tag=\"taylor-swift\">Taylor Swift<\/a> turned to social media Thursday to warn fans about the impending arrival of a 2008 live album, a release that she did not authorize but is the byproduct of her former label Big Machine\u2019s deal with music manager Scooter Braun.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Earlier Thursday, fans noticed that a release called <em>Live From Clear Channel Stripped 2008<\/em> appeared on Swift\u2019s <\/span><span class=\"s1\">streaming service profiles <\/span><span class=\"s1\">without warning; the album\u2019s release date says 2017.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cI want to thank my fans for making me aware that my former record label is putting out an \u2018album\u2019 of live performances of mine tonight,\u201d Swift wrote on Instagram. <\/span><span class=\"s1\">\u201cThis recording is from a 2008 radio show performance I did when I was 18. Big Machine has listed the date as a 2017 release but they\u2019re actually releasing it at midnight.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Swift continued, \u201cI\u2019m always honest with you guys about this stuff so I just wanted to tell you that this release is not approved by me.\u201d The singer then mocked Braun and his financial backers in the Big Machine purchase, writing that \u201cpaying $330 million for my music wasn\u2019t exactly a wise choice and they need money.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Swift\u2019s rejection of the live album is the latest salvo in the ongoing battle between Swift and Braun following <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/taylor-swift-scooter-braun-big-machine-worst-case-scenario-853836\/\">his purchase of the Big Machine label<\/a> and its music, including Swift\u2019s master recordings; Swift has since moved to Universal, which released her 2019 LP <em>Lover<\/em>.
