Mick Jagger<\/a> and Keith Richards went on Zane Lowe\u2019s Apple Music show this week to promote the new Rolling Stones single, \u201cLiving in a Ghost Town,\u201d<\/a> which also gave them an opportunity to respond to Paul McCartney\u2019s recent claim<\/a> that the Beatles<\/a> were a better band than the Stones.<\/p>\n

\u201c[The Stones] are rooted in the blues,\u201d McCartney recently told Howard Stern. \u201cWhen they are writing stuff, it has to do with the blues. We had a little more influences. There\u2019s a lot of differences, and I love the Stones, but I\u2019m with you. The Beatles were better.\u201d<\/p>\n

This is part of a friendly rivalry that goes back nearly 60 years, and Jagger laughed when it came up. \u201cThat\u2019s so funny,\u201d he said. \u201cHe\u2019s a sweetheart. There\u2019s obviously no competition.\u201d<\/p>\n
