Vail Resorts announced March 17 that most of its mountains in North America will close for the rest of the season.<\/strong><br \/><em>Elaine Collins \/ Special to the Daily<\/em><\/figcaption><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Vail Resorts today announced updates to its season pass program for the 2020-21 North American ski season, which includes providing credits to 2019-20 season pass holders whose season was cut short by concerns over COVID-19.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFollowing the difficult decision to close our North American mountain resorts&nbsp;as a result of the unprecedented circumstances surrounding COVID-19, we have been developing a comprehensive plan to address our pass holders\u2019 concerns about the early closure this past season and provide improved coverage for the future,\u201d wrote Rob Katz, Chief Executive Officer, in a news release. \u201cWe are committed to providing the best passes in the ski industry and are focused on both honoring the loyalty of our guests and providing peace of mind for next season.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to the release, 2019-20 season pass holders will receive a minimum credit of 20% toward next season\u2019s pass. For season pass holders who used their pass less than five days, they will be eligible for higher credits up to a maximum of 80% for season pass holders who did not use their season pass at all.&nbsp;For Epic Day Pass, Edge Card and other frequency-based products with unused days remaining, Vail Resorts will provide credits for each unused day up to a maximum of an 80% credit.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The credits will be available to pass holders who purchase 2020-21 passes by&nbsp;Sept. 7, 2020.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col\" readability=\"6\">\n<div class=\"row sd-donation sd-donation-mobile p-0\" readability=\"7\">\n<div class=\"col-xl-4 p-2\">\n<div data-bg=\"url(https:\/\/cdn.summitdaily.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/03\/SDN-logo-white-1.png)\" class=\"p-0 mt-2 mb-2 h-75 text-center rocket-lazyload\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.summitdaily.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/03\/SDN-logo-white-1.png\" class=\"logo m-0 p-0 invisible\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><h3 class=\"d-inline mr-3\">Support Local Journalism<\/h3>\n<p><button class=\"btn d-inline\" type=\"button\" onclick=\"handleDonationButtonClickMidArticle()\">Donate<\/button><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h2>Vail Resorts launches \u2018Epic Coverage\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>Moving forward, future passholders will have new protections on their passes through a new program.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are redefining how we will protect season passes through the launch of \u2018Epic Coverage.\u2019 Epic Coverage is free for all pass holders and completely replaces the need to purchase pass insurance.
