Frontline medical workers<\/a> come face-to-face with the coronavirus daily as more and more cases flood U.S. hospitals. Jimmy Kimmel<\/a> brought one such worker, ER nurse TJ Riley, on Jimmy Kimmel Live<\/em> Monday to show his appreciation \u2014 and dole out a pretty big surprise.<\/p>\n

Riley, who also survived COVID-19<\/a>, works at the Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx where he\u2019s seen his share of horrors \u2014 machetes were mentioned in particular. Still, all Riley currently deals with is COVID-19 patients, and 60% of his coworkers have also caught the virus.<\/p>\n

After thanking the nurse and gifting him with $10,000, Kimmel brought on Riley\u2019s favorite musician, Dave Grohl<\/a>, for an intimate performance of \u201cEverlong.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel like I\u2019m having a coronavirus dream,\u201d Riley marveled as Grohl laughed and picked up his guitar.<\/p>\n

Last week, a bevy of stars \u2014 from Dua Lipa to Coldplay\u2019s Chris Martin \u2014 teamed up to cover the Foo Fighters\u2019 \u201cTimes Like These\u201d<\/a> with proceeds going to BBC\u2019s Children in Need, Comic Relief and the World Health Organization\u2019s COVID-19-Solidarity Response Fund.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am so honored to be a part of this incredible recording and blown away by all the heart and soul these amazing artists have put into our song,\u201d Grohl said in a statement. \u201cI hope that it helps lift people\u2019s spirits, and reminds them that we\u2019ll all be back in one of those muddy fields again someday soon, singing our hearts out together.\u201d<\/p>\n
