Haim<\/a> dropped a timely new single, \u201cI Know Alone,\u201d off their upcoming album Women in Music Pt. III<\/em>, out June 26th.<\/p>\n

Directed remotely by Jake Schreier, the song\u2019s video features the sister trio on a basketball court performing a choreographed dance to the somber synth-heavy track. \u201cBeen a couple days since I\u2019ve been out\/Calling all my friends but they won\u2019t pick up,\u201d they lament in the first verse. \u201cFound another room in a different place\/Sleeping through the day and I dream the same.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a statement, Danielle Haim acknowledged that the single has taken on a new meaning since the pandemic. \u201cThe first lyric we wrote was \u2018I know alone like no one else does,’\u201d she wrote on the band\u2019s Instagram<\/a>. \u201cThis came from feeling like I was in the deepest spiral of being alone and feeling like I felt loneliness deeper than anyone ever had. I remember there were a lot of solo drives with a couple of Diet Cokes in the passengers\u2019 seat, going for hours at night to clear my head.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cNow with everything going on, \u2018alone\u2019 feels like a ritual,\u201d she continued, \u201cOnly I know my own little secret routine on these days of being by myself and I almost take comfort in it. It\u2019s my own way of staying sane in my aloneness and it\u2019s really helping me get through this. I hope all this makes sense \u2014 trying to describe a song is always a little daunting for me \u2014 but I always want to let you guys know where I\u2019m coming from.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI Know Alone\u201d follows the singles \u201cThe Steps<\/a>,\u201d \u201cHallelujah<\/a>,\u201d \u201cNow I\u2019m in It<\/a>\u201d and \u201cSummer Girl<\/a>,\u201d all accompanied by videos directed by their family friend, Paul Thomas Anderson. Women in Music Pt. III<\/em> was originally slated for April 24th but was rescheduled for the summer<\/a> due to coronavirus concerns.<\/p>\n

\u201cDue to everything that is going on with COVID-19 and the changing nature of travel policies and quarantines across the world, we\u2019ve decided it best to postpone the release of Women in Music Pt. III<\/em> to later this summer,\u201d they said in a statement. \u201cWe can\u2019t wait to reschedule everything we had in mind for you all, and we can\u2019t wait to see all of you on the road when it\u2019s 100% safe to do so.\u201d<\/p>\n

Prior to the pandemic, Haim embarked on a tour of delis<\/a> in honor of their first show at Canters Deli in Los Angeles in 2000. On March 10th, they performed an intimate set at Sarge\u2019s Delicatessen<\/a> in New York City, which included a cover of Britney Spears\u2019 \u201cI\u2019m Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman.<\/a>\u201c<\/p>\n
