Mike Love<\/a> has a message for everyone hunkering down in quarantine: \u201cThis too shall pass.\u201d<\/p>\n

And since he\u2019s a Beach Boy and thus some mention of the sun is decreed, he adds: \u201cThe best is yet to come\/So let\u2019s get back to having fun, fun, fun in the sun.\u201d<\/p>\n

Love and sometimes-Beach Boy John Stamos<\/a> teamed up while in self-isolation to write and record \u201cThis Too Shall Pass,\u201d a peppy COVID-19<\/a>-themed track and Love\u2019s first since his 2019\u2019s 12 Sides of Summer<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe all remember when \u2018school is out\u2019 was a cause for celebrations,\u201d Love sings \u2014 accompanied by a bevy of musicians (including Stamos on drums) on Zoom. \u201cNobody ever even thought about closing down entire nations.\u201d The jazzy track then tackles washing hands, wearing masks and, of course, those halcyon days when we can finally go outside and make like a Beach Boy on a particularly pleasant summer day.<\/p>\n

The video was produced by Stamos and the song boasts production by Scott Totten, who is part of the latest iteration of Love\u2019s Beach Boys.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m really proud of Mike for writing this song,\u201d Stamos said. \u201cAbout three weeks into the pandemic, Mike, his wife Jacquelyne and I discussed out how to contribute to the crisis. I suggested he do a parody of one of his songs like Neil Diamond did with \u2018Sweet Caroline.\u2019 He insisted on doing something original and then he started singing \u2018This Too Shall Pass.\u2019 I thought it was really special. At 79 years old, he could be on a boat counting his royalty checks on the way to Kokomo, but not Mike.\u201d<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\u201cA lifetime of performing to millions of people all over the world and suddenly everything came to a halt,\u201d Love added. \u201cI\u2019ve lived through enough good times and bad to know that eventually, this too shall pass, and better days are yet to come. With today being May Day, new beginnings are around the corner and as the lyrics of this song say, \u2018we\u2019ll get back to havin\u2019 fun, fun, fun in the sun.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

All proceeds from the song will go to Feeding America\u2019s COVID-19 Response Fund.<\/p>\n

Like many bands and artists, Love was forced to cancel shows in light of the spread of COVID-19, so he\u2019s spending this time in isolation meditating and spending time with his family. Beach Boys co-founder Brian Wilson also just dropped new music: a cover of \u201cWhat a Wonderful World\u201d<\/a> in partnership with Van Dyke Parks.<\/p>\n
