\u2019s Mike Kinsella continues his solo project Owen with \u201cA New Muse,\u201d a new single off The Avalanche<\/em>, out June 19th via Polyvinyl.<\/p>\n

\u201cDear Lord\/Let me be anything but bored or in love,\u201d Kinsella sings across subtle guitar. \u201cI\u2019ve been comfortably cursed\/Almost blessed to sleep.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Avalanche<\/em> is Owen\u2019s tenth LP, following 2016\u2019s The King of Whys.<\/em> It was produced by Sean Carey, known for his work with Bon Iver.<\/p>\n

Kinsella also recently guested on Matt Healy\u2019s new podcast<\/a>, joining a lineup of guests that include Stevie Nicks, Kim Gordon and more.<\/p>\n

American Football returned in 2016 with American Football (LP2)<\/em>, their first record in over 15 years. \u201cWe knew the band had some kind of following,\u201d Kinsella told Rolling Stone<\/em><\/a>, \u201cbecause we\u2019d keep getting royalty checks from Polyvinyl every year. I just assumed it was Owen fans that were buying the LP. Every now and then, somebody at an Owen show would ask for \u2018Never Meant.\u2019 I didn\u2019t realize my old band had taken on a life of its own.\u201d<\/p>\n

Owen will embark on a tour this summer in support of The Avalanche<\/em>, which may be subject to postponement due to the coronavirus.<\/p>\n
