James Taylor<\/a> gave a very sweet performance on The Tonight Show<\/em><\/a> Thursday night, singing \u201cYou Can Close Your Eyes\u201d with his wife Kim and his son Henry from their home in Montana.<\/p>\n

Taylor played guitar and sang lead vocals on the comforting song, while his family accompanied him with beautiful vocal harmonies. \u201cThis old world must still be spinnin\u2019 around\/And I still love you,\u201d they sing. \u201cSo close your eyes\/You can close your eyes, it\u2019s all right.\u201d The lullaby, originally released Taylor\u2019s 1971 album Mud Slide Slim and the Blue Horizon<\/em>, is a fitting tune of solace during this uncertain time, with the COVID-19<\/a> pandemic raging on and many around the world still in lockdown.<\/p>\n

Last month, Taylor announced that he\u2019ll be appearing on the 18th season of the music competition series The Voice<\/em> as the show\u2019s Mega Mentor<\/a>, joining judges Blake Shelton, Nick Jonas, John Legend and Kelly Clarkson. The season premiered on April 13th. Taylor has chosen to postpone<\/a> his summer tour with Jackson Browne due to the ongoing coronavirus<\/a> pandemic, and he donated $1 million to Massachusetts General Hospital for relief efforts.<\/p>\n

In February, Taylor released a new album of standards<\/a>. \u201cIn terms of how they were performed and recorded before, we paid attention to the chords and melody,\u201d he said of the compilation. \u201cBut we were interested in doing something new, and in bringing something new to it, we\u2019ve reinterpreted the songs, that\u2019s what makes it worth doing.\u201d<\/p>\n
