\u201cIf you are not ready to have some fucking fun, to move your bodies, to get lifted, then you should leave right now, because it\u2019s going to be all action, all Richard, all the time,\u201d Low Cut Connie<\/a>\u2019s Adam Weiner shouted at the start of his regular livestream on Saturday night. The South Philly musician dedicated the latest installment of his \u201cTough Cookies\u201d online performance  \u2014 the 15th he\u2019s done since quarantine began \u2014 to Little Richard<\/a>, who died earlier that day<\/a> at 87.<\/p>\n

For those who watch the livestreams, or have seen Low Cut Connie\u2019s frenetic concerts, it\u2019s easy to discern the Little Richard influence in Weiner\u2019s performance style. He\u2019s a showman with zero self-doubt, throwing himself into his piano playing and singing with flamboyance and grace \u2014 and often minimal clothes. For the Richard tribute, Weiner hit all the staples: \u201cLong Tall Sally,\u201d \u201cRip It Up,\u201d \u201cThe Girl Can\u2019t Help It,\u201d and \u201cLucille,\u201d among them. By the end of the hourlong set, he was drenched in sweat, in a robe, and, finally, in a gold headband, ripped tank top, and green briefs.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s our job to make a future for our kids, for future generations in America and the world, and rock & roll and soul music is an essential part of our culture,\u201d he said, teeing up his own song, \u201cRevolution Rock & Roll,\u201d off Low Cut Connie\u2019s Dirty Pictures (Part 1).<\/em> Weiner returned to Little Richard for the capper, pounding his way through \u201cTutti Frutti\u201d and dramatically stepping out of camera on the final \u201ca lop bam boom.\u201d<\/p>\n

Low Cut Connie resume their Tough Cookies livestreams on Thursday. They\u2019ll release their new album, the double LP Private Lives<\/em><\/a>, later this year.<\/p>\n
