The TempleLive show intends to host 229 fans.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve looked at their plan and their plan is insufficient,\u201d Hutchinson said during his Monday press conference. \u201cThat concert does not have our approval. It would happen three days before the authorized date, and it has a few other problems.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In a statement Monday evening, TempleLive said the concert is moving forward. \u201cIn response to Governor Hutchinson\u2019s comments today, TempleLive currently plans to conduct the Travis McCready concert at its Fort Smith, Arkansas, venue on Friday, May 15th as scheduled,\u201d it read in part. \u201cThe <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/covid-19\/\" id=\"auto-tag_covid-19\" data-tag=\"covid-19\">COVID-19<\/a> precautions and practices established by TempleLive have accumulated interest from other entertainment establishments and are being adopted and implemented worldwide. We believe that the \u2018Fan-Pod\u2019 seating model along with other innovative safety protocols that have been adopted by TempleLive create a safe and comfortable environment, and are the next logical steps in bringing live entertainment back to the stage.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to TempleLive\u2019s&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/fortsmith.templelive.com\/events\/intimate-solo-acoustic-performance-with-travis-mccready-of-bishop-gunn\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">\u201cCOVID Operating Protocol,\u201d<\/a> the venue\u2019s safety precautions include sanitizing the theater with disinfectant fog just before doors open, taking fans\u2019 temperatures at the entrance and restricting the direction of pedestrian traffic.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBy no means is anyone involved in this wanting to promote anything done negligently,\u201d McCready, the former singer of the blues-rock band Bishop Gunn, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-features\/arkansas-concert-coronavirus-994924\/\">told <em>Rolling Stone<\/em><\/a> last week. \u201cI\u2019d rather promote something where it can happen in the safest way possible for now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The concert will likely hold the distinction of being the U.S.\u2019s first pandemic concert, assuming it moves forward.<\/p>\n<p>Lance Beaty, president of Beaty Capital Group Inc, the parent company of TempleLive, says it will. \u201cWe believe that our discussions\u2026with the state have been productive, and will lead to a resolution that protects the rights of people to assemble, and will allow them to do so in an environment that protects the health and safety of the public, the artists, and our employees,\u201d he said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>TempleLive\u2019s proposed safety precautions are among a number of live-music ideas being floated by the industry.
