Kentucky singer-songwriter S.G. Goodman<\/a> joins Rolling Stone<\/em> on our latest installment of In My Room<\/a>,<\/em> where artists perform from their homes in quarantine. This week, we\u2019re highlighting up-and-coming artists such as Goodman, a recent signee to Verve Forecast whose upcoming album, Old Time Feeling,<\/em> was co-produced by My Morning Jacket<\/a> frontman Jim James<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Goodman filmed herself inside her living room in Murray, Kentucky, where she had decorated her piano with votive candles. \u201cI hope this finds you safe and well, and in the best spirits you can be,\u201d she says by way of intro. She also encourages viewers to be in touch with their elected officials. \u201cNow is not a time for complacency, and it would be a good reminder for them [of] who they\u2019re representing, as they\u2019re making decisions that are going to affect all of our lives.\u201d<\/p>\n

For her three songs, Goodman performs \u201cSpace and Time,\u201d \u201cRed Bird Morning,\u201d and \u201cBig Girl Now,\u201d all featured on Old Time Feeling<\/em>, to be released July 17th. With only an electric guitar and her clear-cut voice, it makes for an intimate, witchy set within the darkened living room. At the end, Goodman sends a shout-out to her band: \u201cI miss you guys; it\u2019ll be great when we can all stand in the same room together again and play our instruments.\u201d<\/p>\n

This In My Room<\/em> segment follows performances by Hop Along\u2019s Frances Quinlan<\/a>, Sting<\/a>, Joan Jett<\/a>, Lucinda Williams<\/a>, Waxahatchee,<\/a> and others.
