Jones co-wrote the song with poet Emily Fiskio, who helped inspire Jones to write her own non-musical poetry for the first time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWere you watching\/When I dropped the\u2005seeds\u2005from the window?\/Were\u2005you watching\/When I built walls from\u2005paper and glue?\u201d Jones asks throughout the song. \u201cWere you watching\/When the flowers bloomed in the springtime?\/Were you watching\/Darling, where were you?\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>Pick Me Up Off the Floor<\/em> also features Jones\u2019 collaboration with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/jeff-tweedy\/\">Jeff Tweedy<\/a>, \u201cI\u2019m Alive,\u201d as well as prior singles <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-country\/norah-jones-tryin-to-keep-it-together-video-995890\/\">\u201cTryin\u2019 to Keep It Together\u201d<\/a> (featured as a bonus track) and \u201cHow I Weep.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSome of the songs that are personal also apply to the larger issues we\u2019re all facing,\u201d Jones has said of the album. \u201cAnd some of the songs that are about very specific larger things also feel quite&nbsp;<span lang=\"PT\" xml:lang=\"PT\">personal.<\/span>\u201c<\/p>\n<p>During the ongoing COVID-19 quarantine, Jones has performed regular Thursday livestreams on her Facebook page, where she takes fan requests for songs, both originals and covers.<\/p>\n<div class=\"pmc-contextual-player\">\n<h3>Popular on Rolling Stone<\/h3>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/norah-jones-were-you-watching-998623\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">via:: Rolling Stone<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Norah Jones takes inspiration from poetry on her latest song \u201cWere You Watching?\u201d from her upcoming seventh studio album Pick Me Up Off the Floor, due out June 12th via Blue Note Records.
