{"id":807393,"date":"2020-05-13T08:40:16","date_gmt":"2020-05-13T14:40:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/?p=998693"},"modified":"2020-05-13T08:40:16","modified_gmt":"2020-05-13T14:40:16","slug":"ben-harper-wrestles-loneliness-on-new-song-dont-let-me-disappear","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/ksmt\/music-news\/ben-harper-wrestles-loneliness-on-new-song-dont-let-me-disappear\/","title":{"rendered":"Ben Harper Wrestles Loneliness on New Song \u2018Don\u2019t Let Me Disappear\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/ben-harper-video.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/ben-harper\/\" id=\"auto-tag_ben-harper\" data-tag=\"ben-harper\">Ben Harper<\/a> has shared the video for his latest single \u201cDon\u2019t Let Me Disappear,\u201d the rocker\u2019s first new song in nearly a year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201c\u2018Don\u2019t Let Me Disappear\u2019 is about the fine line between loneliness, isolation and invisibility, to where you can\u2019t seem to find a way not to be hiding in plain sight,\u201d Harper said of the song in a statement.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Like Harper\u2019s 2019 one-off single \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/ben-harper-uneven-days-new-song-video-855840\/\">Uneven Days<\/a>,\u201d his latest single is accompanied by a video co-directed Kristin Sudeikis and Gabriel Judet-Weinshel that juxtaposes Harper\u2019s performance of the song with black-and-white footage of two modern dancers moving in sync with music.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">It\u2019s unclear when Harper wrote and recorded \u201cDon\u2019t Let Me Disappear,\u201d but its lyrics seem to mirror the anxiety and loneliness of the age of COVID-19.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cBeen so long since it felt easy\/Been too long since anyone could reach me\/It\u2019s slipping away,\u201d Harper sings, his acoustic guitar backed by mournful strings. \u201cDon\u2019t let me disappear.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Harper and his Innocent Criminals last released <em>Call It What It Is<\/em> in 2016.
