Doc"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/9804771qC.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p class=\"p1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/john-lydon\/\" id=\"auto-tag_john-lydon\" data-tag=\"john-lydon\">John Lydon<\/a>, better known as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/johnny-rotten\/\" id=\"auto-tag_johnny-rotten\" data-tag=\"johnny-rotten\">Johnny Rotten<\/a>, will host a virtual Q&amp;A session on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/pilofficial\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Facebook<\/a> Sunday June 7th to mark the digital release of the 2018 documentary about Public Image Ltd., <em>The Public Image Is Rotten<\/em>, <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2020\/film\/news\/john-rotten-pil-public-image-ltd-documentary-1234606155\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Variety<\/em><\/a> reports.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The livestream event will start at 10 a.m. in the U.K. and 5 a.m. EST. Lydon will be answering questions from fans alongside the film\u2019s director, Tabbert Fiiller, and producer and PiL manager Rambo Stevens.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><em>The Public Image Is Rotten<\/em> premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2017, got a wide release in 2018 and is now available on <a href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\/ondemand\/publicimage\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Vimeo On Demand<\/a>. The film chronicles how Lydon re-emerged after the dissolution of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/sex-pistols\/\" id=\"auto-tag_sex-pistols\" data-tag=\"sex-pistols\">Sex Pistols<\/a> to form PiL, and delves into the post-punk outfit\u2019s career and influence \u2014 from their initial run from 1978 to 1992 to their break-up and eventual reunion in 2009. Along with Lydon, the movie features interviews with other former and current PiL band members, as well as artists like Flea, Ad-Rock and Thurston Moore.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">In an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-features\/john-lydon-talks-public-image-ltd-doc-726589\/\">interview with <em>Rolling Stone<\/em><\/a> around the film\u2019s 2018 release, Lydon spoke about the how the project put into perspective just how sought after his own image rights were, and the lengths to which others would go to keep them from him: \u201cThere have been so many chiselers out there putting up obstacle courses,\u201d Lydon said. \u201cThey want to over-promote the first step on the ladder I ever took, which is the Pistols, but deny us the rights to any of the footage. It was a real, real serious problem. It\u2019s unbelievable the cottage industry that has formed around the Pistols and PiL.
