The initiative was launched to coincide with Mental Health Awareness Month in May, and it asks people to do one simple task, \u201cBecause mental health matters, I pledge to ask others, \u2018Hi How Are You?&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The Hi, How Are You Project\u2019s initiative launched with a short video featuring an array of musicians and other public figures taking the pledge. Among them are Tweedy and Van Etten, as well as Spoon\u2019s Britt Daniel, Ben Kweller, Built to Spill\u2019s Doug Martsch, Fat Tony, Kate Davis, Maggie Koerner, Austin Mayor Steve Adler and soccer player Tim Regan.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cNow more than ever, we want to be a catalyst to amplify the importance of being able to openly communicate about mental health and well-being,\u201d said Hi, How Are You Project co-founder Tom Gimbel. \u201cLet\u2019s all unite in partnership from coast-to-coast and around the world to take a simple pledge to ask others \u2018Hi, How Are You?\u2019 and have the resources to know what to do beyond that conversation starter. Together as a community we will make an even deeper impact to break down the shame and stigma around mental illness.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The same pledge is available for anyone to take on the Hi, How Are You website.
