Brooklyn band Phony Ppl<\/a> unleashed a swath of songs for the latest installment of Rolling Ston<\/em>e\u2019s In My Room<\/a><\/em>, a series in which artists perform from home while in quarantine.<\/p>\n

From each of their respected homes \u2014 singer Elbee Thrie, drummer Matt \u201cMaffyuu\u201d Byas, keyboardist Aja Grant, bassist Bari Bass and Elijah Rawk on guitar \u2014 the group kicked off with their 2018 stunner \u201cCookie Crumble,\u201d with Thrie playing the kazoo. \u201cWhat\u2019s said is said and done is done\/I don\u2019t know when I\u2019ll see the sun,\u201d he sings over smooth bass. \u201cWhen drowning in life\u2019s deepest sea\/My cookie crumble under me.\u201d They jammed for several minutes, with Rawk performing a sizzling solo at the end.<\/p>\n

The group then shifted gears with \u201cFkn Around<\/a>,\u201d a new single featuring Megan Thee Stallion off their upcoming album. \u201cI say we could explain in song better than we can explain out of the song,\u201d Thrie says, just before they play their final track, 2015\u2019s \u201cWhy iii Love the Moon.\u201d Grant opens the song with a sparkling piano intro, and the rest join in. \u201cThat\u2019s why I love the moon\/Every night it\u2019s there for you,\u201d Thrie sings. \u201cIt\u2019s constant\/Unlike these human beings\/Who lie about what it seems to be.\u201d<\/p>\n

Phony Ppl\u2019s In My Room<\/em> segment follows performances by Cherry Glazerr<\/a>, Squirrel Flower,<\/a> Sting<\/a>, Joan Jett<\/a>, Lucinda Williams<\/a>, Waxahatchee,<\/a> and others.
