{"id":807584,"date":"2020-05-19T06:37:25","date_gmt":"2020-05-19T12:37:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/?p=1002163"},"modified":"2020-05-19T06:37:25","modified_gmt":"2020-05-19T12:37:25","slug":"the-1975-drop-comparatively-demure-youtube-performance-of-people","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/ksmt\/music-news\/the-1975-drop-comparatively-demure-youtube-performance-of-people\/","title":{"rendered":"The 1975 Drop Comparatively Demure YouTube Performance of \u2018People\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/the1975-youtube-session.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/the-1975\/\">The 1975\u2019s<\/a> new album&nbsp;<em>Notes on a Conditional Form<\/em> arrives on Friday, and ahead of its release the band shared a YouTube Session performance of the LP\u2019s lead single \u201cPeople.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s been nearly a year since they released the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/hear-the-1975-demand-stop-f-cking-with-the-kids-on-new-song-people-874155\/\">n\u00fc-metal-esque music video<\/a> for the song, and this clip is a lot more straightforward: Frontman Matty Healy in a (comparatively) demure outfit and sporting a jet-black mohawk, screaming the song\u2019s lyrics into a suspended microphone while the rest of the band plays around him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe economy\u2019s a goner, republic\u2019s a banana, ignore it if you wanna \u2014 fuck it, I\u2019m just gonna get girls, food, gear\/I don\u2019t like going outside, so bring me everything here,\u201d he sings.<\/p>\n<p>The 1975 released a similar black-and-white clip for another recent&nbsp;<em>Notes<\/em> single, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-features\/the-1975-if-youre-too-shy-let-me-know-990593\/\">\u201cIf You\u2019re Too Shy (Let Me Know).\u201d<\/a> They\u2019ve also shared the album tracks \u201cFrail State of Mind,\u201d \u201cMe and You Together Song,\u201d \u201cThe Birthday Party,\u201d \u201cJesus Christ 2005 God Bless America\u201d (featuring Phoebe Bridgers), \u201cGuys\u201d and the self-titled album opener.<\/p>\n<p>In the weeks leading up to the new album\u2019s release, the 1975 have hosted <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/the-1975-spotify-listening-party-991982\/\">listening parties<\/a> for their first three albums every Friday on Twitter and Spotify, culminating last Friday with a return to 2018\u2019s <em>A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships<\/em>.
