{"id":807607,"date":"2020-05-19T12:30:32","date_gmt":"2020-05-19T18:30:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/?p=1002471"},"modified":"2020-05-19T12:30:32","modified_gmt":"2020-05-19T18:30:32","slug":"phoebe-bridgers-drops-stellar-new-song-i-see-you-announces-virtual-world-tour","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/ksmt\/music-news\/phoebe-bridgers-drops-stellar-new-song-i-see-you-announces-virtual-world-tour\/","title":{"rendered":"Phoebe Bridgers Drops Stellar New Song, \u2018I See You,\u2019 Announces Virtual World Tour"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Phoebe-1.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/phoebe-bridgers\/\" id=\"auto-tag_phoebe-bridgers\" data-tag=\"phoebe-bridgers\">Phoebe Bridgers<\/a> originally titled her new single \u201cICU,\u201d but upon its release on Tuesday, she\u2019s changed it to \u201cI See You,\u201d due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, or, as she explains, \u201c*gestures at entire world*.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The track opens with a tumultuous, skittering intro as Bridgers\u2019 vocals enter: \u201cI\u2019ve been playing dead my whole life\/And I get this feeling whenever I feel good, it will be the last time.\u201d In a later verse, she sings over a mellotron, \u201cI used to light you up\/Now I can\u2019t even get you to play the drums\/\u2019Cause I don\u2019t know what I want, until I fuck it up.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bridgers claims that \u201cI See You\u201d is about her ex-boyfriend\/drummer Marshall Vore, who plays on the track and co-wrote it. \u201cIt\u2019s about my breakup with my drummer,\u201d she said. \u201cWe dated for a few years, made music every day, and were extremely co-dependent. We became like family to each other, so our breakup was extremely tough. But if this tells you anything about our relationship, we wrote this song together, just like everything else.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI See You\u201d is off of Bridgers\u2019 upcoming LP, <em>Punisher<\/em>, out June 19th. The track follows the singles \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/phoebe-bridgers-kyoto-punisher-album-980795\/\">Kyoto<\/a>\u201d and \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/phoebe-bridgers-garden-song-video-958018\/\">Garden Song<\/a>.\u201d The former arrived with a video shot on a green screen in Los Angeles, and featured Bridgers flying across Japan in a skeleton suit.<\/p>\n<p>Bridgers was originally scheduled to support the 1975 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/the-1975-me-and-you-together-song-notes-on-a-conditional-form-937426\/\">on tour this summe<\/a>r, but due to the pandemic she\u2019ll be livestreaming performances from her home instead.
