The National\u2019s<\/a> Matt Berninger<\/a> will be releasing his debut solo album, Serpentine Prison<\/em>, on October 2nd. Produced by renowned Memphis multi-instrumentalist Booker T. Jones<\/a>, the LP will be released on Book Records, a new imprint of Concord Records formed by Berninger and Jones.<\/p>\n

Berninger has also shared the album\u2019s title track along with a video showing its recording process in the studio. \u201cDon\u2019t try to connect the dots anymore,\u201d Berninger croons over strummed guitar, subdued percussion and a single organ note. \u201cLet \u2019em go, they\u2019re gonna do it on their own.\u201d<\/p>\n

Last month, Berninger collaborated with the Walkmen frontman Walter Martin on a kooky shelter-in-place song, \u201cQuarantine Boogie (Loco).\u201d<\/a> The duo also worked with Phoebe Bridgers for the recording of \u201cWalking On a String<\/a>,\u201d which was featured in Zach Galifianakis\u2019 Netflix film Between Two Ferns: The Movie<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

With the National<\/a>, Berninger has launched An Exciting Communal Event<\/em>,<\/a> a weekly YouTube Live series that features live shows and other rare or unseen footage from the band every Monday at 5:00 p.m. ET. The project is supporting the band\u2019s road crew relief fund. Additionally, the group created an initiative<\/a> donating all profits from their webstore and fan club enrollment to their 12 crew employees affected by tour date cancellations<\/a> amid the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as a GoFundMe<\/a> for the crew.<\/p>\n
