Deadmau5<\/a> and the Neptunes<\/a> have shared a slick new song, \u201cPomegranate,\u201d which will appear on the superstar DJ\/producer\u2019s next album.<\/p>\n

The track boasts a steady funk bounce that anchors an array of bright synths; it threads the needle between disco, R&B and festival-ready electro-pop. It\u2019s also exactly the kind of instrumental perfectly suited for Pharell, who drapes the song in his silky croon, singing, \u201cYou\u2019re making faces, probably so mad\/We\u2019re in the ocean waves are rolling in your eyes\/Pulses high, the heart beats\/We\u2019re being called to the other side.\u201d<\/p>\n

Deadmau5 and the Neptunes recorded \u201cPomegranate\u201d back in December 2019 during a secret session at Criteria Recording Studios in Miami. The track marks Deadmau5\u2019s first new song of 2020, although it follows a collection of remixes he released in March for his three 2019 singles, \u201cSatrn,\u201d \u201cCoasted\u201d<\/a> and \u201cFall.\u201d Deadmau5 released his last proper studio album, W:\/2016Album\/<\/a>,<\/em> in 2016, while in 2018 he shared Where\u2019s the Drop?<\/em>, which featured new orchestral arrangements<\/a> of his older songs.<\/p>\n

The Neptunes, meanwhile, have been busy as always. Together, Pharrell<\/a> and Chad Hugo contributed production to two songs on Megan Thee Stallion\u2019s Suga<\/em>, while apart they\u2019ve recently worked with artists such as Pusha T, Snoh Aalegra and Bryce Vine.<\/p>\n
