{"id":807658,"date":"2020-05-21T06:13:15","date_gmt":"2020-05-21T12:13:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/?p=1003510"},"modified":"2020-05-21T06:13:15","modified_gmt":"2020-05-21T12:13:15","slug":"lana-del-rey-reveals-new-album-in-the-works-in-open-letter-to-critics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/ksmt\/music-news\/lana-del-rey-reveals-new-album-in-the-works-in-open-letter-to-critics\/","title":{"rendered":"Lana Del Rey Reveals New Album in the Works in Open Letter to Critics"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/10539390ad.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/lana-del-rey\/\">Lana Del Rey<\/a> released a passionate open letter on her Instagram late on Wednesday night in which she writes \u2014 among other things \u2014 that she has a new album in the works, scheduled for release on September 5th.<\/p>\n<p>But the bulk of the letter was addressed to her critics; she slammed the accusations that she had \u201cglamorized abuse\u201d on her first two albums, <em>Born to Die<\/em> and <em>Ultraviolence<\/em>.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"instagram-media\" data-instgrm-permalink=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CAcQPuBJdir\/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;utm_campaign=loading\" data-instgrm-version=\"12\" readability=\"-6.4313725490196\"><\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cQuestion for the culture: Now that Doja Cat, Ariana, Camila, Cardi B, Kehlani and Nicki Minaj and Beyonc\u00e9 have had number ones with songs about being sexy, wearing no clothes, fucking, cheating etc. \u2014 can I please go back to singing about being embodied, feeling beautiful by being in love even if the relationship is not perfect, or dancing for money \u2014 or whatever I want \u2014 without being crucified or saying that I\u2019m glamorizing abuse??????\u201d Del Rey wrote.<\/p>\n<p>She went on to express her frustration at \u201cfemale writers and alt singers\u201d who have accused her of romanticizing abusive relationships, \u201cwhen in reality I\u2019m just a glamorous person singing about the realities of what we are all now seeing are very prevalent emotionally abusive relationships all over the world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Describing herself as \u201cnot not a feminist,\u201d Del Rey argued that there needs to be space for \u201cwomen who look and act like me\u2026the kind of woman who says no but men hear yes\u201d to make art about their experiences.
