{"id":807668,"date":"2020-05-21T09:11:12","date_gmt":"2020-05-21T15:11:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/?p=1003642"},"modified":"2020-05-21T09:11:12","modified_gmt":"2020-05-21T15:11:12","slug":"disclosure-present-the-magic-of-bureaucratic-conception-in-energy-video","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/ksmt\/music-news\/disclosure-present-the-magic-of-bureaucratic-conception-in-energy-video\/","title":{"rendered":"Disclosure Present the Magic of Bureaucratic Conception in \u2018Energy\u2019 Video"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Disclosure.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p class=\"p1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/disclosure\/\" id=\"auto-tag_disclosure\" data-tag=\"disclosure\">Disclosure<\/a> have returned with a new song, \u201cEnergy\u201d \u2014 and an absolutely bonkers video \u2014 that will serve as the title track for the U.K. dance duo\u2019s new album, out August 28th via Capitol Records.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cEnergy\u201d is a bustling tune befitting its title that mixes samples from an album of Brazilian library music with snippets of hip-hop preacher Eric Thomas, whom the group previously sampled on their 2013 song \u201cWhen a Fire Starts to Burn.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cWhen we found Eric many years ago, he was like a goldmine of inspirational quotes and motivational speeches,\u201d Disclosure said in a statement. \u201cEven if he was speaking to a room of five, it was like he was addressing a stadium. He has an immense presence and energy about him that translates so well into music \u2014 especially house music. This time, we cut up various speeches to make something that makes sense. What he says is basically the whole concept for the record, that\u2019s why it became the title track.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The music video for \u201cEnergy,\u201d meanwhile, was directed by Kid Studio. Although it\u2019s presented as a kind of goofball, sci-fi story about some strange futuristic workplace, in a ridiculous twist at the end it turns out to be an extended metaphor for the magic of human conception.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><em>Energy<\/em> marks Disclosure\u2019s third LP and first since 2015\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-album-reviews\/caracal-109906\/\"><em>Caracal<\/em><\/a>, although it also follows a handful of EPs: 2016\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/hear-disclosure-sample-al-green-on-soulful-moog-for-love-ep-69325\/\"><em>Moog for Love<\/em><\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/hear-disclosures-hypnotic-new-song-moonlight-713674\/\">2018\u2019s <em>Moonlight<\/em><\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/disclosure-new-song-escstasy-957193\/\"><em>Ecstasy<\/em><\/a>, which was released in February.
