{"id":807743,"date":"2020-05-22T14:48:34","date_gmt":"2020-05-22T20:48:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.summitdaily.com\/?p=383763"},"modified":"2020-05-22T14:48:34","modified_gmt":"2020-05-22T20:48:34","slug":"memorial-day-dui-enforcement-starts-friday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/ksmt\/local-news\/memorial-day-dui-enforcement-starts-friday\/","title":{"rendered":"Memorial Day DUI enforcement starts Friday"},"content":{"rendered":"<div readability=\"37\">\n<p>As Colorado slowly begins to loosen stay-at-home restrictions, the Colorado Department of Transportation and Colorado State Patrol are urging residents to drive sober.<\/p>\n<p>The Memorial Day DUI Enforcement Period kicks off on Friday and will last until May 26, with more than 70 law enforcement agencies participating in heightened enforcement and increased patrols around the state. Individuals enjoying Memorial Day festivities away from home are encouraged to plan ahead, and make sure they have a sober ride home.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSafety on Colorado\u2019s roadways isn\u2019t just CDOT\u2019s goal \u2014 it should be a focus for every single person on the road,\u201d said Shoshana Lew, CDOT\u2019s executive director, in a release. \u201cYour safety and the safety of those around you are at stake when you drive impaired. All of us want to make it home safely, so don\u2019t jeopardize that by driving impaired.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>During last year\u2019s Memorial Day enforcement period, law enforcement arrested 323 impaired drivers around the state.
