Yeah Yeah Yeahs<\/a> treated fans to a socially distanced rendition of their \u201cPhenomena\u201d live from Karen O<\/a>\u2019s closet Saturday.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cSomethin\u2019 like a phenomena,\u201d Karen O said of the performance. \u201cParty anywhere (closet) anytime (any day of the week) safe at home.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

With (masked) guitarist Nick Zinner and drummer Brian Chase videoing in their instruments via a laptop, Karen O delivered the Show Your Bones<\/em><\/a> track from the interior of her darkened closet, complete with gold streamers, smoke machine and strobe light. \u201cFuckin\u2019 party on,\u201d the singer exclaimed just before the closet door closed, ending the performance.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, like hundreds of artists, had their summer touring plans \u2014 including a headlining set at the Pitchfork Music Fest<\/a> \u2014 nixed due to the coronavirus pandemic. \u201cThis year we\u2019ve had to cancel shows and it sucks; I\u2019m sad and feeling it,\u201d Chase wrote on Instagram<\/a> earlier this month.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cBUT, there is no other choice \u2013 it had to happen out of care and concern for people\u2019s health and well being \u2013 no question. At this time (just as much as ever) we are acutely aware of how much our lives are intertwined with each other\u2019s. From the perspective on stage, the audience is there rejoicing together \u2013 gender, race, religion etc. are one; from this perspective, also, \u2018time\u2019 stops and what matters most is that feeling of rejoicing \u2013 a form of care and concern for people\u2019s health and well being. Can\u2019t wait to play for you and share these moment again!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
