Jessie Reyez<\/a> has shared a piano cover of fellow Canadian Drake\u2019s<\/a> Take Care<\/em> track \u201cHeadlines\u201d as part of the latest Spotify<\/a> Singles release.<\/p>\n

Reyez\u2019s rendition is vaguely reminiscent of Coldplay\u2019s \u201cClocks,\u201d with a steady four-chord piano hook; her vocals keep up nicely with Aubrey Graham\u2019s original flow. \u201cI might be too strung out on compliments\/Overdosed on confidence\/Started not to give a fuck and stopped fearing the consequence,\u201d she sings. \u201cDrinkin\u2019 every night because we drink to my accomplishments\/Faded way too long I\u2019m floating in and out of consciousness.\u201d<\/p>\n

On Side A of her Spotify Single, Reyez performed a percussion-heavy, rock-infused version of her ballad \u201cLove in the Dark.\u201d This version of the song is almost unrecognizable \u2014 there\u2019s a lot more edge to it and Reyez\u2019s voice is played through a vocal distortion filter. Simply put, it rocks.<\/p>\n

Reyez released her debut album Before Love Came to Kill Us<\/em> this past March. The LP featured a collaboration with Eminem<\/a> on the track \u201cCOFFIN,\u201d<\/a> a slow-burning love song. Reyez previously paired up with Eminem on \u201cGood Guy,\u201d<\/a> a single off Kamikaze, <\/em>in 2018. Reyez\u2019s 2018 EP, Being Human in Public,<\/em> was nominated at the 62nd Grammy Awards for Best Urban Contemporary Album.<\/p>\n
