These parades come at a time when many residents are feeling the strain of social distancing and the inability to celebrate special occasions with their loved ones in person.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Cars honked as they drove past Anneke Crowe\u2019s residence during a snowstorm April 16 to celebrate the 12th birthday of Crowe\u2019s daughter, Mary Grace. While social distancing guidelines were being put in place and birthday parades were not yet common in the county, the family was inspired by Facebook posts.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI thought the parades looked fun and different,\u201d Crowe said. \u201cI texted a bunch of friends and invited them to stop on by.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe was completely shocked,\u201d Crowe said about her daughter. \u201cAfterwards, she said she was so overwhelmed and shocked, and she couldn\u2019t believe so many people came to celebrate her.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col\" readability=\"6\">\n<div class=\"row sd-donation sd-donation-mobile p-0\" readability=\"7\">\n<div class=\"col-xl-4 p-2\">\n<div data-bg=\"url(https:\/\/cdn.summitdaily.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/03\/SDN-logo-white-1.png)\" class=\"p-0 mt-2 mb-2 h-75 text-center rocket-lazyload\">\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.summitdaily.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/03\/SDN-logo-white-1.png\" class=\"logo m-0 p-0 invisible\"><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><h3 class=\"d-inline mr-3\">Support Local Journalism<\/h3>\n<p><button class=\"btn d-inline\" type=\"button\" onclick=\"handleDonationButtonClickMidArticle()\">Donate<\/button><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Parades are not only fun for those celebrating their birthdays, but they also offer a chance for family and friends to get out of the house and show their loved ones how much they care, even from a safe distance.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne of the participants called me and said it was the highlight of their month,\u201d Crowe said. \u201cPeople were able to just do something normalish, celebrating someone.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"p402_hide\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\">\n<div class=\"caption-container\">\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.summitdaily.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/05\/summit-parade-picture-2-1024x768.png\" alt class=\"wp-image-384063\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cdn.summitdaily.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/05\/summit-parade-picture-2-1024x768.png 1024w, https:\/\/cdn.summitdaily.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/05\/summit-parade-picture-2-300x225.png 300w, https:\/\/cdn.summitdaily.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/05\/summit-parade-picture-2-768x576.png 768w, https:\/\/cdn.summitdaily.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/05\/summit-parade-picture-2-1536x1152.png 1536w, https:\/\/cdn.summitdaily.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/05\/summit-parade-picture-2-2048x1536.png 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\"><\/p><figcaption><strong>Mary Grace Crowe celebrates her 12th birthday with presents dropped off by family and friends in a drive-by parade April 16.<\/strong><br \/><em>birthday parade picture 2<\/em><\/figcaption><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>On May 15, more 30 cars passed the home of Heidi Clark to celebrate the 13th birthday of her son, Summit.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>While Summit has looked forward to his 13th birthday for a while, the COVID-19 pandemic prevented him from celebrating with friends and family in person.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was his 13th birthday,\u201d Clark said.&nbsp;\u201cHe has been excited for it since he was 8, saying, \u2018When you are 13, you are a man.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Clark\u2019s neighbors helped organize the parade as a surprise to Summit, and Clark created a Facebook page to invite Summit\u2019s friends and teachers to participate.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI actually was super shocked,\u201d Clark said. \u201cWe ended up having like 30, 40 cars show up. A lot of them decorated their cars. He did not get the surprise party he had wanted, but this was almost way better.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Summit, who has Williams syndrome, was especially touched when police cars, ambulances and firetrucks joined the parade to celebrate his birthday.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe has always wanted to be a firefighter,\u201d Clark said.&nbsp;\u201cIt even meant more to him that they showed up.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><figcaption>A birthday parade including cars, firetrucks, ambulances and police cars celebrate Summit Clark\u2019s 13 birthday from a distance during safer-at-home guidelines.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Parades involving first responders have not only celebrated the birthdays of locals but also Summit High School\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.summitdaily.com\/news\/summit-county-seniors-cope-with-canceled-graduation-find-new-ways-to-celebrate\/\">graduating<\/a> class of 2020.
