Beyonc\u00e9 demanded justice for George Floyd<\/a> in a rare social media video statement Saturday.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe need justice for George Floyd. We all witnessed his murder in broad daylight. We\u2019re broken and we\u2019re disgusted. We cannot normalize this pain,\u201d Beyonc\u00e9 said in the video posted Saturday.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not only speaking to people of color; if you\u2019re white, black, brown or anything in-between, I\u2019m sure you feel hopeless by the racism going on in America right now. No more senseless killing of human beings, no more seeing people of color as less than human. We can no longer look away. George is all of our family in humanity. He\u2019s our family because he\u2019s a fellow American.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

On Friday, former Minnesota police officer Derek Chauvin \u2014 the man seen kneeling on Floyd\u2019s neck for nearly nine minutes \u2014 was charged with third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter. However, despite the charges, Beyonc\u00e9 said more must be done.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThere have been too many times that we\u2019ve seen these violent killings and no consequences. Yes, someone\u2019s been charged, but justice is far from being achieved,\u201d Beyonc\u00e9 continued. \u201cPlease sign the petition and continue to pray for peace, compassion and healing for our country.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The singer directed her 147 million followers to four organizations that are seeking justice for Floyd: change.org<\/span><\/a>, Color of Change<\/a>, the NAACP<\/a> and We Can\u2019t Breathe<\/a>. Fans can also text \u201cFLOYD\u201d to 55156.<\/span><\/p>\n

Prior to Chauvin\u2019s arrest, the change.org<\/span> petition gained support from Ariana Grande, Cardi B, Lil Nas X, Jonas Brothers and more. Nearly 7.5 million people have already signed the \u201cJustice for George Floyd\u201d petition, making it the largest petition in the change.org<\/span>\u2018s history.<\/span><\/p>\n

Artists like Billie Eilish<\/a> and Rihanna<\/a> similarly turned to social media Saturday to lament Floyd\u2019s killing, while many in the music industry planned to make June 2nd \u201cBlack Out Tuesday<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n
