Sutor said announcement from the state is forthcoming.<\/p>\n<p>On May 15, Summit County requested a variance from Gov. Jared Polis\u2019 safer at home order to open restaurants and short-term rentals. That request <a href=\"https:\/\/www.summitdaily.com\/news\/summit-county-grapples-with-variance-denial-as-restaurants-are-given-a-limited-green-light-statewide\/\">was later denied based on the county\u2019s case data.<\/a> However, some county officials have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.summitdaily.com\/news\/summit-county-officials-express-frustrations-over-variance-denial\/\">expressed frustration over the denial<\/a>, as there were inconsistencies found in the data used by the state to deny the order.<\/p>\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col\" readability=\"6\">\n<div class=\"row sd-donation sd-donation-mobile p-0\" readability=\"7\">\n<div class=\"col-xl-4 p-2\">\n<div data-bg=\"url(https:\/\/cdn.summitdaily.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/03\/SDN-logo-white-1.png)\" class=\"p-0 mt-2 mb-2 h-75 text-center rocket-lazyload\">\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.summitdaily.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/03\/SDN-logo-white-1.png\" class=\"logo m-0 p-0 invisible\"><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><h3 class=\"d-inline mr-3\">Support Local Journalism<\/h3>\n<p><button class=\"btn d-inline\" type=\"button\" onclick=\"handleDonationButtonClickMidArticle()\">Donate<\/button><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>At Wednesday\u2019s joint Board of Health and Board of County Commissioners meeting, County Manager Scott Vargo mentioned the June 1 opening date as well.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe idea of the governor making an announcement on June the first, which may be that we\u2019re going to lift the restriction on short term rentals, doesn\u2019t do us any good for the folks that have bookings on June 1,\u201d Vargo said. \u201cWe need to know that information now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Breckenridge Mayor Eric Mamula shared excitement about the announcement <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/TownBreckCO\/videos\/3013020758916981\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">on a Facebook live stream<\/a> Saturday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSome great news today, the governor decided that short-term lodging can open up on June 1,\u201d Mamula said.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>With no signed order yet, there are no official details on what the opening will look like or what special measures might be required of short-term rental operators. Earlier this week, county Communications Director Julie Sutor said the county will defer to whichever order is most restrictive when there is a final word from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In its variance request, the county <a href=\"https:\/\/www.summitdaily.com\/news\/summit-county-officials-hope-to-reopen-all-short-term-lodging-june-1-if-governor-approves-variance\/\">outlined a number of rules and regulations for the short term rentals<\/a>.
