The Indigo Girls<\/a> played a handful of songs from their manager\u2019s office in Atlanta, Georgia, for \u201cIn My Room<\/a>,\u201d our IGTV series in which musicians perform while in quarantine during the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n

Seated at a safe distance from one another and in front of a couch covered with vinyl copies of their new album Look Long<\/em> and various commemorative plaques, Amy Ray<\/a> and Emily Saliers<\/a> played three songs from the new album. They began with \u201cCountry Radio,\u201d<\/a> which depicts a small-town gay kid who loves country music but feels like an outsider. \u201cI wanna know what it\u2019s like to fall in love like the rest of the world,\u201d they sing in trademark harmony.<\/p>\n

They followed that with the swampy \u201cShit Kickin\u2019,\u201d with Ray switching to electric guitar and Saliers picking up a Dobro to add some slide licks. Finally, they finished up with the urgent \u201cHowl at the Moon,\u201d with Ray on mandolin and Saliers on the electric banjo, letting Ray punctuate the ending line about a yearning \u201cto be free to howl at the moon, one and all\u201d with her own high-pitched howl.<\/p>\n

The Indigo Girls\u2019 installment of In My Room<\/em> segment follows performances by Dawes\u2019 Taylor Goldsmith<\/a>, Phony Ppl<\/a>, Sting<\/a>, Joan Jett<\/a>, Lucinda Williams<\/a>, Waxahatchee,<\/a> and others.
