Following a week of protests in the aftermath of the police killing of George Floyd, Meek Mill<\/a> dropped a hard-hitting new song that tackles the issues of racial inequality in America.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cOther Side of America\u201d opens with a clip of Donald Trump lobbying to African-American voters during a 2016 campaign rally: \u201cYou\u2019re living in poverty. Your schools are no good. You have no jobs. Fifty-eight percent of your youth is unemployed. What the hell do you have to lose?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

From there, Meek Mill paints a vivid picture of life on \u201cthe other side of America.\u201d \u201cWe was starvin\u2019 for a thousand nights\/Livin\u2019 like we tryin\u2019 to die tonight\/Gloc 40 sound like dynamite,\u201d he says on the track.<\/span> \u201cI was fuckin up my cop money\/Sellin\u2019 soap like it\u2019s China white\/OG\u2019s said \u2018you fuckin\u2019 the block up\u2019\/I was mad I was tryna fight.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The track ends with an excerpt from Meek Mill\u2019s interview on CNN\u2019s Smerconish<\/em>. \u201cI always dreamed to be on CNN to be able to express myself and speak for the voiceless young men of America,\u201d the rapper says. \u201cThe first step I would say: \u2018I grew up in America in a ruthless neighborhood where we are not protected by police, we grew up in ruthless environments, we grew up around murder, you see murder, you see seven people die a week, I think you would probably carry a gun yourself. Would you?’\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
