I got up and called my producer, Troy Taylor and I said \u2018We\u2019ve got to make music that really touches the soul, that really addresses what the world is feeling right now. Especially our people,’\u201d Songz said in a statement.<\/span> \u201cSo we came up with \u20182020 Riots: How Many Times.\u2019 With the words in this song I just wanted to speak to everyone\u2019s hearts and acknowledge the pain and anguish everyone is going through right now. I know this ain\u2019t usually my message and you\u2019re not used to hearing this from me, but this is the person I\u2019ve always been.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cHow many mothers have to cry?\/How many brothers gotta die?\/How many more times?,\u201d Songz \u2014 backed by a piano melody, a simple beat and full gospel choir \u2014 asks on the track. \u201cHow many more marches?\/How many more signs?\/How many more lives?\/How many more times?\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

Songz adds, \u201cAll these beautiful, precious black lives\/Lost in the name of senseless white pride.\u201d<\/p>\n

Proceeds from \u201c2020 Riots: How Many Times\u201d will benefit both Black Lives Matter<\/a> and the Community Justice Exchange\u2019s National Bail Fund Network<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c2020 Riots: How Many Times\u201d is the latest protest anthem to emerge following the killing of George Floyd by police; in recent days, artists like YG, LL Cool J and Terrace Martin have all released tracks inspired by Floyd\u2019s death<\/a> and the protests that followed.<\/span><\/p>\n
