The live-action project is tentatively titled after his 1983 song, <em>All Night Long<\/em>, and will utilize some of his greatest hits.<\/p>\n<p>According to the report, the artist pitched the concept to the studio, where it was accepted in January and the artist is on board as the film\u2019s producer alongside his manager Bruce Eskowitz as well as Calvary Media\u2019s Dana Brunetti and Matt Del Piano. Screenwriter Pete Chiarelli (<em>Crazy Rich Asians<\/em>, <em>The Proposal<\/em>) has reportedly been tapped to write the script.<\/p>\n<p>Richie confirmed the news via Twitter. \u201cBig things in the works!,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/LionelRichie\/status\/1270474064960737280\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">he wrote<\/a>, sharing a link to the <em>Variety<\/em> piece.<\/p>\n<p>The film is expected to be more aligned with movies like <em>Mama Mia<\/em>, which is inspired by ABBA\u2019s songs, rather than biopic-oriented, such as the Freddie Mercury-focused <em>Bohemian Rhapsody<\/em> and Elton John-based <em>Rocketman<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Richie recently served as a judge on Disney\/ABC\u2019s <em>American Idol<\/em> for Season 18, which premiered in February and then adapted with stay-at-home performances in the wake of the pandemic.
